License Guide

License Usage Guide

Understanding how licenses work is important to ensure you’re using your purchased products correctly and in compliance with our Terms of Service. This guide explains everything you need to know about WPiGo product licenses.

1. What is a License?

A license is your legal right to use a product you’ve purchased from WPiGo. When you buy a product, you receive:

  • License Agreement: Legal terms governing how you may use the product
  • License Keys: Unique codes that activate and authenticate your purchase
  • Usage Rights: Permission to install and use the product within specified limits

2. Single-Domain/Installation License Policy

One License = One Installation

All products sold on WPiGo follow a single installation license policy. This means:

  • Each license can be used on ONE (1) production website/installation only
  • You must purchase separate licenses for each additional website or installation
  • Using one license on multiple sites/installations violates our Terms of Service
  • Violations may result in license termination and account suspension

What Counts as “One Installation”?

For WordPress Products:
Allowed (Single License):

  • www.example.com (your production site)
  • One staging/development site (see section below)

NOT Allowed (Requires Multiple Licenses):

  • example.com + shop.example.com (separate licenses needed)
  • example.com + example.net (separate licenses needed)
  • Multiple client websites (one license per client site)

For Software Licenses:

  • One license = One computer/device installation
  • Cannot install on multiple computers simultaneously
  • Must deactivate on old device before activating on new one

For Digital Products:

  • One license = Usage rights as specified in product terms
  • Check individual product license for commercial usage rights
  • Some digital products allow unlimited project usage (check product page)

3. Development & Staging Sites (WordPress Products)

We understand developers need to test products before deploying to production. For WordPress products, you may use your license on:

  • ONE production domain (your live website)
  • ONE staging/development domain (for testing purposes)

Acceptable Development Domains

  • localhost (on your computer)
  • staging.example.com
  • dev.example.com
  • test.example.com
  • example.staging-domain.com

Important: Staging sites must not be accessible to the public or used for commercial purposes. Once you move to production, you should deactivate the license on staging.

4. Understanding Your License Keys

When you purchase a product, you may receive different types of keys depending on the product type:

4.1 Purchase Code (WordPress Products)

  • Purpose: Product activation and license verification
  • Format: xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Usage: Enter this in the plugin/theme settings to activate
  • Security: Safe to use on your website, but don’t share publicly

4.2 API Key (WordPress Products)

  • Purpose: Public key for accessing updates and plugin repository
  • Format: wpi_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Usage: Enables automatic update notifications
  • Security: Relatively safe, but avoid public sharing

4.3 Secret Key (WordPress Products)

  • Purpose: Private key for secure API authentication
  • Format: sk_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Usage: Used for webhook verification and secure API calls
  • Security: KEEP THIS CONFIDENTIAL! Never share or expose publicly

4.4 Software License Keys

  • Purpose: Activate software on your computer
  • Format: Varies by software vendor
  • Usage: Enter during software installation or in activation dialog
  • Security: Keep confidential – required for installation

4.5 Access Credentials (Digital Products)

  • Purpose: Access online courses, memberships, or premium content
  • Format: Username/email + password or access code
  • Usage: Log in to course platform or content portal
  • Security: Do not share – personal access only

⚠️ Security Warning: Treat all your keys and credentials like passwords. If compromised, contact us immediately at support@wpigo.com to regenerate your keys.

12. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use WordPress products on subdomains?

Subdomains are generally considered separate domains and require separate licenses (e.g., shop.example.com is different from example.com). However, staging subdomains like staging.example.com are allowed alongside your main domain.

What if I change my domain name?

Deactivate the license on the old domain, then activate it on your new domain. The license remains valid.

Can I purchase one license for multiple sites I own?

No. Even if you own all the sites, each site requires its own license.

Do I need a license for localhost development?

Technically no, but activating on localhost is allowed and helps you test update mechanisms.

Can I transfer my software license to another person?

Generally no. Licenses are non-transferable. Check specific product terms or contact support@wpigo.com for exceptions.

What happens if I upgrade my computer?

For software licenses, deactivate on your old computer, then activate on the new one using the same license key.

Can I use digital products for commercial purposes?

It depends on the license type. Check your product’s license terms in your confirmation email or product page. Some products include commercial use, others are personal use only.

Do course access credentials expire?

Most course access is lifetime, but check your specific product details. You can always re-download course materials from your account.
